My experience to date has been with developing and adapting a trauma informed practice.

Having trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist: what emerges from the past in the context of the therapeutic relationship is key to growth. My practice is trauma informed and mindfulness centered. I had my first clinical lessons and my first deeply human experiences as a professional therapist working with survivors of chronic trauma. I continue to train and practice with a belief in the indomitable nature of the human spirit.
I am drawn to what information the body holds--your body holds. I am asking clients to increase their awareness of stress (internal and external) on their physical bodies--here we see the connection between thoughts, physical feelings, and emotions (a staple of CBT.)
My work has been shifting and growing along with my life—and the coronavirus pandemic accelerated change. I am noticing new strength as I focus on Transition and Intuition.
I am trained in many treatment modalities including EMDR, DBT, CPT, CBT, solution focused brief therapy, partner focused (conjoint) treatment for PTSD. I have developed art and mindfulness programs and workshops wherever I have practiced; I believe in creativity as an essential part of the human soul. I am a long time Taiji player and student of Qigong. I am also a former student of American Studies and as such am keenly interested in the impact of culture on our thoughts and sense of, or beliefs about, what is possible.
